Prepared for Ash & Natalie

Ranveer's
Kindergarten Plan

A Christian homeschool proposal for Fall 2026

21 slides · ~12 minutes

The Vision

Why We're Doing This

"The goal is not a child who passes tests. It is a child who sees God in everything, reasons clearly about truth, and is prepared to engage the world with confidence and faith."

— Our guiding aim for Ranveer
Bible as the lens for all of life  Wonder at God's creation  Clear reasoning — 1 Peter 3:15  Formed for real life & work  Apprenticeship with Ash
Our Foundation · Part 1 of 2

7 Governing Principles

Every curriculum evaluated against these. No exceptions.

Principle 01
Deeply Christian
Bible is the interpretive lens for every subject — not an add-on. All knowledge is ultimately God's knowledge.
Principle 02
Curiosity & Wonder
Nature study is core, not optional. God's creation is the first classroom — we treat it that way.
Principle 03
Discipline & Consistency
Structured, habit-forming, predictable. Education is formation, not just information delivery.
Principle 04
Effective & Practical
No Latin, no vanity subjects. Every hour of school must earn its place with real learning value.
Our Foundation · Part 2 of 2

7 Governing Principles continued

Principle 05
Community is Secondary
No co-op or community dependency. The family is the primary educational unit.
Principle 06
Business & Marketplace
Real-world mindset, stewardship, apprenticeship with Ash's work from an early age.
Principle 07
Reasoning & Apologetics
Apologetics as a superpower — 1 Peter 3:15. Build reasoners from age 5.

"Always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in you."

— 1 Peter 3:15 · The mission behind Principle 7 · Most curricula skip this entirely at Kindergarten

Charlotte Mason

Education as an encounter with real and beautiful things — not textbooks and worksheets.

Living Books
Rich literature that brings subjects to life. History through biographies, science through nature writing. Books that are alive.
Nature Study
Weekly outdoor observation with a nature journal. The habit of attention to God's creation — trained from the beginning, not assumed.
Narration
Children retell what they learned — no tests, no worksheets. Narration builds comprehension and long-term memory naturally.

"Charlotte Mason was a devout Christian. Her philosophy treats children as persons — not vessels to be filled with facts."

— Our assessment
In our stack
My Father's World · Heart of Dakota · Backyard & Beyond — all Charlotte Mason-influenced, all creation-centred
Daily rhythm
Short, focused lessons. Ranveer finishes formal school before noon. Afternoons belong to life.
The Approaches · 2 of 2

Reformed & Apologetics-First

Reformed / Covenant
History as God's story
History is one unified narrative with God as sovereign author. Catechism trains children to articulate what they believe with precision — from age 5. "Not one square inch...that Christ does not cry, Mine!" — Kuyper
In our stack
BiblioPlan · Answers Bible Curriculum
Apologetics-First
Reason · Evidence · Defend
Children taught what to believe but not how to think leave the faith when they encounter the first hard question. We start building reasoners at age 5 — not debaters, but children who know why truth is true.

The Core

My Father's World God's Creation from A to Z

An all-in-one Charlotte Mason curriculum organising Kindergarten around the alphabet — each letter introduces a facet of God's creation.

Bible-integrated daily  Phonics included  Math included  Art & music  No co-op required  ~90 min/day

"The Bible is not a separate subject. It is the interpretive lens for every letter, every creature, every day."

— MFW curriculum philosophy
Alternative under review
Heart of Dakota (Little Hearts for His Glory) — tighter daily structure, same CM philosophy. Request samples from both before ordering.
Premier vs. Essentials
Premier ($424) includes 26 literature books. Essentials ($250) doesn't. Most are library-sourceable. $174 difference.
36 weeks · A to Z
A is for Alligator — Bible verse, science fact, literature read-aloud. All 26 letters reveal God's creation.
The Rejected

Why Not the Others?

Every rejection was principled, not arbitrary.

Classical Conversations — $1,200/yr
Latin is core at Kindergarten (Principle 4 — no vanity subjects). Community is the delivery mechanism (Principle 5). High cost for a program that conflicts with two principles.
Sonlight — $750
Kindergarten science uses Usborne books — secular, not creation-based. Conflicts directly with Principles 1 and 2. Otherwise strong program — wrong fit for this family.
The Good & the Beautiful — Do Not Use
Founded by a Latter-day Saint. Foundation Worldview (already in our stack) has published five documented doctrinal concerns. Looks Christian, is not.
Canon Press — Not Yet
Excellent classical program. No K bundle; introduces Latin early. Worth reconsidering for Grade 1 — the classical trivium fits better at age 7+. Revisit Spring 2027.
Principle 7 · Apologetics

Building a Reasoning Faith

Foundation Worldview
Ages 4–7 · 1×/wk · 20 min
Elizabeth Urbanowicz teaches via video. Ranveer learns that truth is not a feeling — and practises giving reasons. Endorsed by Sean McDowell & Craig Hazen (Biola).
Answers Bible Curriculum
3×/wk · 30 min
Genesis → Joseph, chronologically. Each lesson includes a "Prepare to Share" section written for the parent — creation apologetics equipping built into every lesson.
Picture Book Apologetics
Monthly · ~$10/book
Kalam, Moral Argument, problem of evil — in illustrated picture books for ages 5+. Endorsed by Sean McDowell, Alisa Childers, Mama Bear Apologetics.

"The Christian youth exodus doesn't begin with teens. It begins with kids who were never given reasons."

— Elizabeth Urbanowicz, Foundation Worldview
Principles 1 & 2 · Science

Creation Science Apologia — Zoology 1

The gold standard in creation-based elementary science. Written directly to the child in a warm, conversational style.

Flying Creatures of the 5th Day
Birds, bats, insects, butterflies. Each chapter begins with God's act of creation and works outward into biology and behaviour.
Hands-On Learning
Experiments, copywork, and nature journalling through the Junior Notebooking Journal — included in kit.
Format
2×/week · ~45 min. Self-contained — no prep beyond reading the chapter.
Why creation-based science matters
Standard curricula teach the natural world as self-contained. Apologia teaches it as a window into the Creator's mind. The same bird that migrates 4,000 miles is evidence of a God who designs with breathtaking precision.
Cost
$94
Textbook + Junior Journal. Reusable for future children — only the journal is consumable.
Principle 2 · Nature

God's Creation as Classroom

Backyard and Beyond
1×/week + daily outdoor time · $63
Structured nature walks, seasonal observation, nature journal. Gives outdoor time a purpose and a record. The habit of attention to creation — trained weekly from Kindergarten.
What it builds
By year's end, Ranveer has a nature journal filled with his own drawings, notes, and seasonal discoveries. A habit for life.
Abiding Wild
Monthly unit · $8/unit or $300/yr membership
The best Christian creation-theology nature study in our research. Each unit opens with Scripture and reads the created thing as a revelation of God's character.
Our approach
Start with one unit ($8) to evaluate. Recommendation: 3–4 units Year 1 (~$32 total). Upgrade to membership if Abiding Wild becomes a favourite.

Action — Summer 2026
Design the Business Track
Principle 6 is the least defined. What does Ranveer observe at work with Ash? Needs to be concrete before Fall — a loose idea becomes nothing.
Target: Order all materials by July 15, 2026
MFW ships 5–7 business days · Foundation Worldview is digital (immediate) · Allow 3 weeks lead time · A late September start is perfectly fine.
Principle 6

The Business & Apprenticeship Track The most distinctive part of Ranveer's education

Most homeschool curricula ignore business entirely. Ours makes it central — not as a subject, but as a way of life.

Observation
Ranveer comes to work with Ash regularly. He watches how decisions are made, how customers are served, what problems cost, and what integrity looks like in practice.
Stewardship
Age-appropriate money management. Earning, saving, giving. The biblical theology of work as calling — not just income.
Making & Selling
Simple projects: growing something, making something, offering something of value. The satisfaction of work completed well.

"Apprenticeship is not a teaching method. It is a relationship. Ranveer learns to work by working alongside someone he loves and trusts."

— Our philosophy for Principle 6
Status: Needs Design
This is the least-defined open item. A concrete Week 1 plan needs to exist before Fall 2026. What does Monday afternoon look like when Ranveer joins Ash?
Action item
Design the apprenticeship track — Summer 2026. One concrete plan for one week. Build from there.
For Ranveer

Let's Begin.

"Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Proverbs 22:6

Every great journey begins with a first step taken in faith. This is ours — not a perfect plan, but a thoughtful one, built on love for our son and trust in God's grace to fill the gaps.
